2010 Race Goals

As I sit here after finishing my fourth cookie before 11 a.m., I thought I'd write a quick post on my race goals for the 2010 season. Feel free to add yours in the comments below and I'll post them on the main page. If you don't, I'll make them up for you and this will be awesome.

1. Have fun: This sort of goes without saying, especially if you read anything on this blog or the comments. We like to have a good time. While I love good results and am very comptetive. I don't do this for a living. I'll leave that part up to TJ. As I've said numerous times on this blog and during our meetings...with beer, I do these more so because it's a good time with my friends. Also, Hammerhead will be back in the area hopefully soon, so that gives us another training partner.

2. Emmetsburg Tri: I've gotten 2nd and 3rd in this race the last two years. This year, I would like to win. It'll be tough, as the guy that won it last year beat me fairly easily. I'll have to get faster...or I guess he and every other fast person could take a vacation?

3. Okoboji Tri: I got in the top 10 (8th) last year. This year I'd like to get in the top 5.

4. Olympic Distance: Time goals are so course dependent. For example, there's some halfs were a 4:30 on one course is closer to 5 hours on many others. Anyways, I didn't do an Olympic distance race last year. The year before, I went 2 hours and 20 minutes. I'd like to go 2 hours and 15 minutes. I haven't done speedwork in a while, so we'll see.

5. Health: This should be up higher, but I guess there's no particular order. Stay healthy for everyone on the team.

6. Must-do races: I would for sure like to do... Dam to Dam, Emmetsburg Tri, Okoboji Tri, Point to Point.

7. Running: In most races (except for Ironman Cozumel), my run splits are nowhere near as good fieldwise, as my swim/bike. It's not because I go out too hard on the bike...my open run times and tri-run times aren't that far off...it's just that I need to improve running.

8. Aqua Skipper: dsm911 and the warrior...be warned, I'm coming after you two to take the crown as best aqua skipper on the team.

9. Road Race: I'd like to enter one road race this year...bike that is.

10. GET DSM911 TO DO POINT TO POINT

11. Edited to add (Race Okoboji at 175 pounds). Raced Cozumel at around 183...just weighed in after a big dinner last night at 190.

My goal is to do the Okoboji triathlon again this year. 10Ks are weak. And my goal is to finish without injury or death since I will be getting married two weeks later.

Great goals man. You must be really speedy to place so high in all of the races that you do. I am really excited to see what you do for your speed work.

Y2010 race goals as well:

10) Be the first to circum-navigate the floating dock via aqua-skipper

9) Destroy FGLB & Dogman in Euchre (the above mentioned have been cowardly avoiding the game five rubbermatch since July 2009)

8) Help burrito overcome his fear of small dogs

7) Rain accomodating, head back up to MPLS w/FGLB for Turtleman.

6) Keep Thundering Herd from making any rash decisions this summer.

4) revisit Fudruckers™ post-blue heron lake workouts and drop names, like "burrito"

Mike...thanks, though I must say my higher placings are at some of the "local" races. I'm hoping to change some of that this year with some good performances in bigger races. One of my main obstacles is my diet. Let's just say I like to eat.

dsm911...it's on regarding the aqua skipper.

Dogman

This is not in any particular order as well.

1) Have Fun. I would have to agree with each part of what FGLB said for this goal.

2)To make sure that DSM 911 has no chance in winning in euchre and I will play a game name the time and the place

3) Health: Overall stay healthy try to lay off of the sweets, pop there are times that I have too much of those

4) Two Marathons done before November 2010. For sure Okoboji and then either Des Moines, Chicago or Grandma's

5) Improve upon Okoboji Marathon by either getting 2nd or winning it.

6) Compete in Dam to Dam, St. Pat's Half Marathon and Emmetsburg Tri

7) Improve upon speed by doing some 5k races as well

8) Improve upon abs and flexibility not sure how to go about this except for more ab workout and stretching may be looking to try yoga

9) Do more swimming and bike training

The only goal FGLB had in ALL CAPS was for DSM911 to swim point to point... no other comments have acknowledged this?!? I will take the blame if this doesn't happen - as I was supposed to be the paddler, but have a work conference that weekend. Does Burrito know how to paddle? That might get me off the hook...

Goals:
1. finish all 3 events in the Okoboji TRI (no more cheerleading for me!)
2. complete at least 2 other TRIs - sprints or olympic
3. beat DSM911 in at least on of those TRIS

PS - my $$ is on the soon to be Mrs. Accelerade Warrior for conquering the aqua skipper... you boys can keep dreaming!

5. Not get invited to a 2010 new year's eve party hosted by fellow team members.

3. Not be bitter on account of the non-invitation.

2. Encourage Stokes to return to Iowa and turn himself in so I can have my bond money returned to me

Why won't DSM 911 give us his #1 goal? How am I supposed to plan the rest of my life?
