Kansas pre-race

In just over a week, Droid, Nacho Libre and I are gonna smile, put on our spandex and hop in the water for my first, Droid's first and Nacho Libre's second half ironman.  Right now, I'm not that nervous.  Probably because it's still over a week away and also because I have absolutely no expectations for it.  This is either good or bad.  I don't know yet.  Strike that, I've got some expectations, but I'm going to use my same old shoulder injury excuse.  If I hadn't gotten hurt, I'd have some real expectations and this would be a great test for me to see where I'm at.  Now, it'll be a good test to see how much further I need to go.

Droid and I are planning on camping for this baby.  Nacho Libre is still undecided.  I've reserved a camp spot near transition.  It'll be interesting to see how much sleep I get the night before.  I'm guessing not very much, so I'll have to get a good night's rest the night before, aka Friday.

Yesterday I had a pretty tough workout day.  After a short warm-up, I had a 15 x 100 on the 2 min.  These weren't supposed to be anything too crazy hard, but a sold, strong effort.  I did the first on at 1:26 and decided to do the duration at 1:30.  For the whole, I kept everything between 1:30 and 1:32.  Pretty good swim.  That night, I had a 1hr. 30 min bike, with two 20 minute sessions above race pace, followed by a 15 minute transition run.  Today, I had a short open water swim, and a 45 minute run, with 3 x 1 mile at 7:30 pace.  Legs felt a whole lot better than on Tuesday, when I seemed to struggle with an easy 30 minute run.

Rumor on the street is dsm911 is back from his honeymoon.  Hope he remembered the sunscreen.

After Kansas, I'm doing the Emmetsburg Bob McCartan Sprint Tri.  It's June 28th (or 27th), whatever that Saturday is.  Who's all in for this?  I'm pretty sure Nacho Libre is in.  I can't remember if dsm911 is in or not.  Burrito?  Warrior?

My status for all races is questionable. Mostly because I have not really been training. I may have caught Burrito's fibromyalgia.
