Well, as dsm911 indicated to me prior to our pilgrimmage to what we thought was going to be a super awesome martini-fest last night, that my previous post (not the t-shirt one) was a little depressing. I agree. I'm glad it didn't turn into a death penalty debate, not the intention. With that being said, this post will be a little more light-hearted.
As aforementioned, dsm911 and I were going to head to martini-fest at Graze in West Des Moines. In our minds, there were going to be a bunch of tents in a fairly confined space with different types of martini's being served by scantily clad gorgeous women. Ok, we weren't planning on that, but I digress. We got there and were handed our gift bag filled with a martini glass, airplane size vodka (you know, the little tiny things they give you when you want to get drunk on the flight...not that I would know), some other crap and mardi gra beads. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad? We dropped all the stuff in my car, save for the martini glass, since we needed that to be filled with manly pink colored martinis. We soon find out that the martini samples you get are in pint sized martini glasses (our glasses were rendered useless...back to the car). Think of our martini glasses as Doberman's and the pint size one's as akin to Droid's 7 pound cat-dog.
We also come to find out that a few of the stores in West Glen also have stops, as there was only one tent at Graze. Lame. There was no way we were going to get even a buzz going by taking a shot of the martini sample and then walking a 100 yards to get another one. So, we settled into another bar and I decided to have a beer for various countries. Red Stripe, Dos Equis and Sapporo. Soon burrito showed up and starting doing jello shots. I ended up going home fairly early as I had a 1500 yard swim and 8+ mile run the next morning. And by early I mean about midnight.
By the way, judging by my yard, I think Dogman found the real good martini party and then decided to mow it. Seriously dude, thanks for mowing, but lay off the sauce. I kid I kid, it wasn't that bad.
Up at about 7 and decided to watch the 13th Warrior this morning with Antonio Banderas. I may change my name to Antonio Banderas...say it, with the accent. Sounds cooler than my name. I can answer the phone at work. "Antonio Banderas."
Decent swim. 1500 yards and I was going to do it "easy" since I haven't had much pool time as I've tried to control the alien bone from sticking out of my shoulder. Averaged about 1:41 per 100 or so. Then off for an 8.04 mile run. It was only going to be about an 8 mile run or just under, but right as I was about to turn around, "Wanna Be a Baller" by Lil Troy came on. No turning around while mid-song. Gotta show respect to Lil Troy.
I must say, the highlight of my weekend thus far was after the Y, I was putting my towel in the bin on the way out, still in the locker room. Towards my left, a rather William Perryesque dude was standing naked. For those who haven't been blessed to leave the Scientology building the last 30 years, his nickname was "The Fridge." Just as I turned to walk out, William (obviously not his real name) decided to make a beeline for the bathroom. Maybe too much fiber for him this morning. (Too much info. for ya?) Try being me as I turned and came dangerously close to leaving an imprint on the guys stomach. Glad I didn't run into him, who knows what kind of timeline he was on. I may be walking a fine/thin line between light hearted and gross, but that's how the Boji Tri Team rolls.
First tri for a Boji Tri Team member this week. Droid's heading up to Effingham (real name), Illinois for a sprint. Word is the water may still have ice over top. (Side note. Just saw a spam email come in...The title was "Respond. Don't piss me off). Well, don't hold your breath spambot. Back on track. Good luck Droid. I'll get an update from him, but I'm guessing it'll go something like this. Froze in the swim but am getting better. Hammered the bike. Run was ok. Most of Droid's training has been concentrating on the swim and judging from my latest bike ride with him a few weeks ago, the bike is gonna be just fine.
